Kristen Hanley is a motion graphic artist, digital designer, and a video editor. She will be graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Visual Media and a BS in Biomedical Photographic Communications in May of 2019. Her duel degrees combine scientific research with visual media and have allowed her to cultivate skills in marketing, social media management, graphic design, video production, microscopy, optical physics, and field photography. She is a self-starter who thrives in a fast paced environment that challenges her to think about design in new ways. Kristen has a constant desire to learn new techniques such as advanced motion graphics.
She loves sleek and simple designs with bold colors that efficiently convey information. In her spare time, she enjoys taking details from art deco designs and reworking them into contemporary pieces. She believes motion graphics are one of the most effective and eye-catching types of content used in social media campaigns today. The use of motion graphics for informational videos has increased her interest in fast-paced content. She is inspired by the use of cross-media content such as a mix of still photography and 3D digital animation. She aims to create content that keeps the viewers intrigued and can be distributed across a company’s multiple social media platforms for maximum reach.
She is also the president of RIT Players, a theater group, which is one of the largest student-run organizations on her campus. As president, she has organized and run multiple productions and financial meetings which has solidified her time management, teamwork, and communication skills. She also utilizes her design and motion graphic skills to create content to promote the organization on its multiple social media platforms. In the future, she intends to implement her leadership and organizational skills to become a project manager while still producing content.
